Eerie Days

Spooky Stampotique

I've only been Art Journaling for 14 months and not only do I absolutely love it, but I am totally addictive.  I try and spend any free time I have, journaling and using mixed media in any way I can.
However, I'm even newer to blogging.  I set my blog up a while ago, with no idea what I was doing.  I wrote the first couple of blogs, but then everything seemed to get in the way, life became really hectic and I didn't pay any attention to my blog.......

That is until now.......I've made a promise to myself that I'm going to be an active blogger, and try and keep on top of things.  Before I can keep 'on top' of things though, I have a load of blogs that need writing, and this is one of them......

I had no idea in my head of how I wanted this journal page to look when I started it.  All I knew was that I wanted to use colours that I never usually use.  I've been sticking to the same colours recently; pinks, blues and purples, so I wanted to use colours which I never usually go to, and I had decided that I wanted the page to be quite eerie and moody looking.  The main colours I chose were Squeezed Orange, Melted Chocolate and Black Marble, with hints of Fresh Lime and White Linen Dylusions Ink Sprays.

I used a number of different stamps on this page. The two main images are Stampotique stamps, the big tree is a Sheena Douglass stamp, the grasses are IndigoBlu and finally the flock of birds is a Tim Holtz stamp.
I stamped the images onto white card using Memento ink as I wanted to colour them with Promarkers.
I stamped the other images directly onto the page using a black Archival ink pad.

Once I had coloured the images, I wanted to choose a quote, and I believe this one is from a Tim Holtz set.  It says "If the young only knew......If the old only could", I thought it suited the two characters quite well. I distressed the quote using 'vintage photo' distress ink pad by Tim Holtz because the white card looked too stark against the background.

I positioned the quote and images where I wanted them and stuck them down with a glue stick. When the glue had dried, I drew around them with a black pen, just to make the images pop.
The last thing I did was to splash the page with the gorgeous new Dylusions white linen ink spray.  It bleaches the colour a little and makes the sky more starry and moonlit, adding to the overall spookiness (well that was the theory lol).

Thank you for popping over, please leave a message, I would love to hear from you......

Happy crafting xx
