My first design team piece for Roc Nicholas - 'Hide and Seek' - yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

'Hide and Seek'.............!!

Hello, thanks for coming over today.  I'm really happy and excited to have a new project to post today.

The reason I'm so excited is because its my very first project for Roc Nicholas Design Team!!

I had so much fun making this tag.  I wasn't entirely sure what i was going to do.  I had an idea in mind and I think it turned out how I wanted it to.. Something bright, cheerful and a bit playful.

I started by spraying the tag using Dylusions Ink Sprays. When the ink was dry i used the Stampotique stamp 'Journey collage' with embossing ink to stamp the background. Whilst the ink was wet, I brushed some 'perfect pearl mica powder over it to give it a lovely shimmer. You can just see it in the photo.
I used the Stampotique 'Giant shroom stamp and two of my favourite Roc Nicholas stamps;
'Blessed Skellie' and 'Dog'. They are so versatile and such great looking characters, I just love them.
I coloured all of the images with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and Faber Castell Polychromo pencils.
I love using my pencils to enhance and highlight certain areas.  This works on almost any medium your using and creates depth and dimension to your piece. I am always amazed at how much difference it makes...

I added some strips of text in the background before I stuck my images in place. Its just to add some interest to the tag.  Once stuck down, I positioned my images where I wanted them to be before sticking them down, to make sure that they were definitely in the right place, then glued them down.

I stitched around the edges of the tag with my trusty sewing machine.. I do have a confession though - my sewing machine is only used to stitch around card, paper, or mixed media things - its hardly ever seen fabric hahaha
It somehow didn't look finished, so I decided to add some fabric and flowers to the edge to give it a slightly different look.
I had some white Prima flowers, and sprayed them with the same colour Dylusion inks that I'd used for the tag.
I've always got scraps of fabric left over in a box on my desk from other projects that I've done, so its easy for me to have a quick rifle through  and grab some lovely pieces of lace etc
For this I used some Prima Resist Canvas, Lace and some Calico.  I layered up the fabric and attached it with some of Finnabairs Soft Matt Gel and left to dry..

There were just a couple of finishing touches that I wanted to add. The first was to ink spray a piece of scrap ribbon and thread it onto a piece of wire so you could hang it up if you wanted too.
Finally, I used Liquid Pearls in black to add definition to the border and added a googly eye to the Blessed Skellie haha

I really enjoyed making this, and I hope you liked it too.

Thank you for popping over to see my first Design Team piece for Roc, I hope to see you again soon and please feel free to leave me a message to say 'hello'....
