First journal page at home...aagghh!!

Well I have finally taken the plunge and actually completed my first journal page, on my own, at home, and it wasn't as scary as i thought ..!!

How can you be afraid of a piece of plain paper? It sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud. All it took was a surge of courage and off i went...into the journaling world......

I wanted to use the beautifully vibrant colours of the Dylusions Spray Ink range, so i chose Bubblegum Pink, Vibrant Turquoise, Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest.
I sprayed each colour in puddles on the page and spritzed over them with some water to enable them to blend easier. I left the ink for a few seconds and then blotted the page with some kitchen paper to remove the excess ink.  You could also mop up the excess ink onto sheets of card and use them later as mop up pages and ready made backgrounds.

I chose some stencils and decided to try and 'ghost' through them with Luminarte shimmer mists. Surprisingly, it did work, and not only ghosted but left a gorgeous pearlised, shimmer on the page. I also used the stencils to ink through, and stamped with a background stamp in a complementary colour, to add further dimension.

I stamped the circle border using the Dylusions stamp plate 'Around the Edge' with black, Archival Ink. I then used the 'Doodle Parts' stamps to stamp the toadstools and the border along the top of the page.  The 'Further Around the Edge' stamps were used to create the leafy edge to the bottom of the page and everything was then coloured in with the inks.
Once all of the ink had dried, i highlighted certain areas with a white Inkssentials pen, to give the appearance of light and to give definition to the images.

Not too bad for a first attempt, all alone..it can only get better!

Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a message, i always love to know who popped by...
