Faith Journaling

The Three Kings

I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday than at a workshop at ART FROM THE HEART in Harrogate, with lots of lovely friends.

It was a faith journaling class today with Father Andrew Hall and the subject was 'The Three Kings'.
I absolutely love these classes, there is a calming aspect to them, so peaceful and so much fun.

This is only my fourth a Faith Journaling class, but I can safely say that I am well and truly hooked.

I admit that at first I was a bit concerned about going because although I have a faith, I'm not a heavily religious person.  I had no need to worry at all.  The class is based around your interpretation of the topic we are doing on the day and you can apply as much or as little religious text as you want to.  I cant tell you how much I LOVE IT...!

We all know that the three kings were following a star to guide them to the birthplace of Baby Jesus.  So, for me,I wanted this to be a one of the main focal points of the page.  I had used a large Dylusions Star Stencil , and sprayed Lemon Zest Ink Spray  until the lemon bleaches out the dark blue colour.  Once the ink was dry, I drew around the star with a clear 'Stickles', I think it was called 'Frosted Lace', but I can't remember, sorry....

The background was made using Dylusions inks.  I used 'After Midnight, Crushed Grape, Cherry Pie,  Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest'.  I started with the darkest and got lighter towards the ground.
I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to the page, so I used Perfect Pearl Sprays through a smaller star stencil and it really catches the light and twinkles.. I love Perfect Pearls, they add another layer to your work, but in a very subtle way.

We had a traditional picture if the Three Kings, and we could interpret it in our own way.  I drew the body and covered it in a mixture of fabrics and pattern papers, I copied the heads from the main image and drew an orb around their heads.

This is my finished page.  I need to add some writing to it, but I'm not sure what to write yet...Any suggestions? I'd love to hear some.....
Overall, I'm quite pleased with my page. I love the bright colours and the fabrics on the Kings...

I can't recommend Faith Journaling enough.  It is such a fantastic class.  It's so relaxing and fulfilling, and at the same time so much fun and laughter.  There is a meditative aspect to it which fills you with a feeling of serenity and peacefulness.  I absolutely love it ......!

Thanks for looking and happy crafting xx
